Currently Listening
I've Been Born Again
By Bullfrogs & Butterflies
see related
What! What's this? Yes, after months of silence I have decided to post. Wow, a lot has happened since my last post. (On a totally side note: I'm currently listening to the good ol' Christian hit "Bullfrogs and Butterflies, We've both been born-again". The classis never die.) The play finished up last night. It sorta stinks to be done with that now. I'm really going to miss it, but it is time to move on to other things... like school work... So I was really sick on tues and wed. It was not pleasant. I had my mom pick me up and I just flopped at home. UK had their first basketball game today. They won. Oh, back to the play. The adjudicators really really liked the play. And it was good cause that was by far our best night. We had a few minor problems on some of the other nights (lights going out, sound going out, forgetting lines, etc.) I think this character was my favorite that I have done at Asbury. I just really enjoyed it. I'm playing intramural volleyball and basketball. We have our first volleyball game. I'm playing with friends from my church. (now I'm listening to "kiss the girl") I took a nap today and I dreamed that Nicholasville became huge, almost like New York. Wilmore even picked up a small skyscraper, but then some strong midget guy chased me down while I drove on a miniature motorcycle. I was in a DFP project on Saturday. Those are always fun to do. I'm excited to see how it turns out. Playing the piano is so relaxing. Ok, i'm rambling now.

well, i figure it's time to update this thing...

So last Sunday I got to play lead keyboard in church. Normally, I just play synth, which is fun, but it is just a filler in here and there. This was my first time doing the main keyboard/piano in church and it was so stinkin  fun. I've played main keys before, just not in church.

School is going well. I haven't had alot of studying to do yet... that's been cool. We had our class picnic today. We played capture the flag and kickball. I scored the game winning run in kickball so that was really fun. I ran so much during capture the flag. I played barefoot, and that made it even more fun. Afterwards, a bunch of people came over and we watched a movie at my house. fun times.

tomorrow we have a set building day for the play. Oh and I have to work at the library from like 1-5:30. I might get my hair cut tomorrow... And it's my birthday! well i'm off. night.

Orientation was a blast. It has been so cool walking around campus and seeing everybody. the Kareokee at "Cut Loose at the Luce" has been a highlight of my asbury experience. And then singspiration was just a great time on Sunday. Followed by our first "set apart" time in hughes on Monday. The whole thing has been great. My calves felt like knots and I lost my voice, but I am back now and fully energized for the school year. My classes should be really good too. I'm excited about the play getting started. We had our first brother sister hall thing last night. rock on 2nd glide!!! Tonight I'm hanging with a friend I haven't seen in like 4 years. so that will be fun. And then I'm going to a going away party for a buddy who's moving to switzerland. But it's cool how God works things out because I'm going to get to see him in feb. when I go to italy for the olympics. I can't think of much to write at the moment. sorry.

Yesterday was awesome. Meeting everybody at the luce was a blast. It's so cool to put names with faces and to meet everybody in person. The stuff at the luce was fun too. I was dead tired after it was all though. My calf muscles are really sore this morning from jumping around and running in flip flops. I have almost lost my voice from yelling (the good kind of yelling). My room is starting to look better and better. My hardrive is back up and running. I'm not really sure when I'm going to practice with the drama troupe, but I can figure that out later. God has definately been carrying me through this orientation.

Sometimes, there are those days where everything is going right. And then there are days where everything goes wrong. And then there is a third type of day: one in which everything goes wrong, but ends up great. I've been having alot of the third kind of days lately.

Example one: Saturday. I didn't find out until late that I was doing kids church the next day. And it poured rain while we were meeting the freshmen going on archways. BUT, God gave me a great idea for kids church and I felt the rain made the fellowship better within the group. (note: the idea was to make a movie about obedience. I gave everybody (around 50 or so) a part and we filmed it and then watched it... it went great)

Example dos: Sunday.... ok, bad example, cause Sunday went really well.

Example dos B: Tuesday... We drive to Red River Gorge to bring ale8 to the archways people. It was great, we had a blast being out there and getting soaked by the deluvian rain. We weren't sure where where to go, but then Andy Bathje walks right up and took us to the group. Then we get back to the car and... wouldn't ya know it. I locked my keys in the trunk. Now we (meaning maren and I) are an hour and a half from home in the middle of the woods. We call AAA and they tell us they will call back. But then our phone goes out of service. We finally get to a place where we can get service, and they say they have a tow truck then can tow us to this ford dealership where they can make a key. The tow truck arrived, but the dealership had already closed AND they don't keep keys for models past ten years (i have a 92). So we just ripped through my back seat (the keys were in the trunk) and finally used a long stick to get them out. BUT, it was great because we got to spend more time hanging with the archways people AND we got to go to this good pizza place. AND we still made it back in time for the international students fellowship which was a blast. All that to say, thank you, Lord.

Example 3: today. my harddrive hasn't worked on my computer for a week. I thought I was going to lose all my data. I took it into a computer store. It will be expensive, but they think they can recover it all. Oh, and my neighbor ran into my car. It just dented in the passanger side and scraped it up. She said her insurance would cover it.

Between locking car keys in my trunk, dysfunctional computers, rain, and car smashes, I have really been feeling the devil trying to make me lose my mind before orientation. But, God has been so faithful, and I am still very sane (or as sane as I have always been). Please be praying that everything goes well for orientation.
